Poetry rehab: Papers

This is my entry for the poetry 101 rehab prompt for “Papers”

Something as simple as paper
Has me remembering things thought forgotten
Words have become my scraper
Chiseling away and dispelling all that is rotten

They leave but not without a fight
Scrambling to place one last mark
My words push back with all their might
Until from my brain they disembark
